About Us

WHO WE ARE

OUR MISSION

Communicare’s main aim is to offer as many languages as possible under one roof. After all, the Czechs believe that:  you live one life for each language you speak, and it would be boring to live only one life, wouldn’t it?

The name of our cultural centre partly  represents our aim, with Communicare meaning “communication” in Latin, a language that many European languages originate from such as Portuguese, Spanish, French, German etc.

However, our teaching is not restricted to European languages. We also teach our mother tongue – Konkani, and a variety of other Indian languages.

In today’s world, learning a language is more comprehensive than just learning to frame sentences. It also involves the different cultures present of these countries.

She has directes, anchors and produces episodes for RTPi, a Portuguese international channel and produces short films and series for local television under the Lotus Films & TV Production banner. However, what she is passionate about more than anything else, is teaching Portuguese. She has taught this language in many Higher Secondary schools and now she teaches at Communicare Trust.

Assistant Manager

Tanya Távora

Tanya Távora’s journey into film production has been shaped by a blend of journalistic zeal and creative storytelling. After earning a degree in Mass Communication from St. Xavier’s College in Goa, Tanya cultivated an early interest in media that seamlessly integrated writing, editing, and the art of storytelling. During her time in college, she became increasingly drawn to the behind-the-scenes aspects of media production, marking the start of her transition into filmmaking.

In the trust she is the force behind many of the projects whether it is the mobile library or the workshops held in educational institutions.

Trustee

Bossuet Afonso

Dr. Bossuet Afonso is a well known and popular surgeon in Goa. He is a man of many interests and abilities. He loves to play the violin and has a penchant for fixing things that need to be fixed. A multi-lingual persona himself, Dr Bossuet is well versed in Konkani, English, Hindi, Portuguese and Spanish. He is ever supportive of Communicare and its new ideas and ventures, always providing valuable inputs into making this institute a place that always evolves into something more interesting, dynamic and eventful.

Trustee

Lisa Dias Noronha

Lisa Dias Noronha is a woman of the Arts, with an acute interest in theatre, music and storytelling. She has a true love for languages, both to listen to and to learn. You can see it in her interest in people’s stories and the parts of the world they’re from. Although objective, she always follows what she deems right. She teaches German but when free, loves listening to the twittering of birds on Chorão Island, where she lives.
