Kaleidoscope is a Language Competition that encourages the learning of languages through competitive spirit and a multitude of language quizzes. Through Kaleidoscope we seek to encourage interest in the various languages taught at higher secondary schools. Other than a way to kindle a love for languages in students, it is also a way of making sure that the general knowledge on a variety of subjects from sports to organic farming are well known.
The quizzes have various rounds, each with their own specific rules testing the knowledge of the students in different fields such as local news, tourism and culture. It is held in Goa University, Goa where the audience plays an active role in the quizzes as well. The event is held in five different languages – Portuguese, French, Hindi, Marathi and Konkani. The entire program is recorded and is then broadcasted on one of the local TV channels to help reach a larger audience.
We started Kaleidoscope in 2010 and have had many memorable occasions happen since then. In the 8th Edition we had 3 students from Macau participate in the Portuguese quiz segment. In the year after, we took it a step forward and held and recorded a Portuguese Kaleidoscope in Macau at Escola Portuguesa de Macau (EPM) and took 2 students from Goa with us.
This year this event was scheduled for April 2020. Unfortunately, due to the Covid 19 we could not go ahead with our plans. We hope to have the 10th edition in 2021 in Goa and Macau.
Meanwhile, you can have a peak at all the past editions in our archive section.
